Many nations including the United States, have set aside certain areas as nature preserves and botanical gardens to display the beauty and bounty for all to see and to study and preserve plant life.
The Botanical Garden in Chicago, Illinois has over 50,000 members and offers classes, special events, a plant science center and devoted to the preservation of endangered flora as indicated by Preserve Gardening.
Many botanical gardens study specific types of plants such as the Dessert Botanical Garden located in Arizona or the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Florida.
Many states also have nature preserves such as the well known Florida Everglades, Yellowstone Park and Death Valley National Park.
