Crafts are great for different holidays because the receiver knows that you have put time and thought into the gift. Kids of different ages can make a Keepsake Box for their mom for Mother's Day. To make this gift, you will need to gather up a wood or paper box, scrapbook papers of various colors, greeting cards, ruler, pencil, decoupage medium, tape and ribbon. Next, have the child use a ruler and pencil to draw lines on the gift box.
They will want to make a grid of one inch squares. The scrapbook paper or greeting cards will need to be cut in squares to fit on the grid. Using the grid for direction, arrange the squares like a checkerboard. The decoupage medium is the glue to use for the squares. A handle can be made for the box by threading ribbon through a bead. Make a hole in the top of the box and thread the ribbon through to the underside. Secure the end of the ribbon on the underside with tape.
Valentine's Day is a day where many like to make their own cards. Finding a card that suits a guy is sometimes difficult. Most cards are mushy or simple and seem to fit a female better than they fit a male. You can view an illustration of this card on www.kaboose.com. It is simple to make but fits many of the "real men" in our lives. Www.michael.com also has card ideas to fit your needs with instructions.
